SOS Spot Awards

Spot Awards are intended to acknowledge and demonstrate appreciation and recognition for the exceptional contributions of individuals and teams, large or small. The monetary value of these awards is relatively small, but their value is immeasurable. Nominations can be made at any time and award-winners will receive a token of your appreciation soon after.

SOS Staff Excellence Awards

The School of Science Staff Excellence Awards program recognizes the significant contributions SOS staff members make to the MIT community, particularly for accomplishments that go beyond their typical roles and duties.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program

Students in the Schools of Science and Engineering interested in a career in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering may apply to the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship program. Selected scholars recieve up to $7,500 per year for up to two year to cover eligible expenses. The nomination process begins every September.

Teaching Prizes for Graduate and Undergraduate Education

The Teaching Prize for Undergraduate Education recognizes outstanding teaching not only in undergraduate subjects with large enrollments (such as those that satisfy the General Institute Requirements in science), but also in upper-level science subjects in which enrollments are smaller.

MIT Excellence Awards

The Institute-wide Rewards and Recognition program acknowledge the extraordinary efforts made by members of our community toward fulfilling the goals, values, and mission of the Institute. This is among the highest honors awarded to staff by MIT. Professionalism, commitment to best practices, and high standards of excellence are at the heart of these awards.
